Paul LaFountain

Director of Model Trading | Alternatives Analyst for Alden Investment Group in Milton, VT

Prior to joining Alden Investment Group, Paul LaFountain completed a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Phoenix.

Shortly thereafter, he obtained a Master of Arts degree in teaching from the University of Vermont and was a middle school social studies and language arts teacher for the past seven years. In addition to being a teacher, Paul fulfilled a dream of becoming a high school basketball coach and is currently the head varsity girls basketball coach at BFA St. Albans in Vermont.

However, over the course of the last few years, a new passion arose, the stock market. While not sure where the new passion would take him, he decided to take classes to better understand technical analysis and how to understand everything from drawing trendlines to chart patterns such as rising wedges. Once basic technical analysis was achieved, he turned his attention to fundamental analysis classes that would shed light on things such as earnings reports and understanding news catalysts. Despite his love for being in the classroom, it soon became evident that the financial world piqued an interest he was previously unaware of. A career change was imminent and he jumped at the opportunity to join Alden.

While just starting his foray into finance, Paul’s greatest strengths are his determination, attention to detail, hard work and eagerness to learn. He thrives on problem solving and collaboration when discussing and executing consistent, profitable strategies with colleagues and clients.

He is currently studying for his Series 65 certification and hopes to have that secured by year’s end.
